It was such a beautiful afternoon at Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast that I went out and walked around in the cool of the day. Believe it or not in July! lol It had just rained and the temp was in the 70's. Wow was it ever refreshing. Everything looked like it was so thankful for a cool drink of water! So...I snapped a few photos. Here they are...enjoy! I sure did!
We were delighted to cater goodies in honor of baby Miles. The occasion was a "Sip and See" for all of his Mommy's friends and family to meet him. It was such a wonderful time of celebrating his birth!
This is so cool. Ms. Ashley picked us up in this cool machine and we are off and running... the first place we stopped at was the "Volcano". Doesn't look steep, but it is! When you make it to the top there is a mud pit with a track around it. Looks hazardous to me! Didn't try it!
Now this is fantastic! It is a spring fed swimming hole. In south Alabama they swing from a rope and fly off in the water. I thought I would try this one. I was all harnessed in and ready to go...
BRRRRRR it's gonna be cold!!!!!
Whew, after that I wanted to cruise for a while. Ashley took us riding on some of the beautiful trails. Time would not allow for us to go on a lot of them. She said that you could spend a whole weekend and not have time to go down every trail there. And I believe it, it is a huge place!
At one stop we were able to go inside a cave. Now who would have thought that in South Alabama?
That was fantastic! It has a hole in the top that lets light shine down. You've got to see this!
Next we went by a lot of lakes and creeks that you can ride in, if so inclined. That's for the ruff and tuff! And those who don't mind a little (lot) of mud. Orange is just not my color... But one lake has special meaning to it. Get Mr. Joel to tell you about it. Hint...read the sign.
On one of the trails we came up on these beauties. I don't think they have ever seen a red chair like me and to be truthful, I have never seen anything like them! lol Only in Alabama I suppose?
Well, this is getting long so You will have to come to Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast to check out the rest of the photos of my trip to the south. Please go check out Boggs and Boulders, too. It is a fantastic place to have fun! Thanks Mr. Joel, Ms. Ashley, Ms. Laura and Mr. Bruce for showing me such a good time!

Man it feels good to be in South Alabama and at Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast! With all the traveling I have done, this is a wonderful place to just slow down and relax! So when I get settled in my room...that is what I am going to do! I hear we have a big day planned for tomorrow!
Well, after having a wonderful breakfast with the other guests, Laura (innkeeper) shared with me the plans for the day...
We started out with a trip to the beautiful Gantt Lake. There is something about water that is so relaxing. These are a few shots she took of me while I was enjoying the view... She told me there are over 21 miles of natural shoreline. Wow, it is beautiful!
We left the lake (sad, sad) and was driving down the road and I caught a glimpse of this old building. We turned around so I could get a better look. Such a classic!
Driving down the country roads the fields were so pretty. Big, wide open fields. Again, I could not resist... this is me in a pecan grove. I know this area is really pretty in the summer. If I had a hammock a n d... ok, I'm back from my day dream.lol
Back in town we headed for the museum. I was fascinated with the old buildings. This is an old filling station and the post office. I was kicked back. Do I look like an old man sitting on the porch?
That was our adventure for the first day. We went back to the B&B where Ricky and Laura showed me around their inn, chapel and reception center. If I could find me a man, I'd sure get married here! Well sir, I believe I have found me one! :) I think I will tie the knot at Sweet Gum Bottom!
I am calling it a day for today! Lot of action and besides, I am on my honeymoon starting now! :)
Good morning Sunshine we are off on another exciting adventure. We are going to Boggs and Boulders! This is going to be fun! It is over 1000 acres of dirt trails for atvs, jeeps and just about any off road vehicle. I wonder if a chair counts? hum? I think so! Here we are looking at the volcano, not doing that!
NOT doing this either! Get me down from here! I'm going to look at the cave. Very cool!
Wheeeee, this is fun!
I am worn out! This was so much fun. I am coming back here! Now, one more stop for the day. They say that this old jail in Andalusia is haunted. The ghostbusters have even been here and documented it. So, off we go to jail. Laura and I walked up the steps (can you say creepy) and peered in the window. That was enough for ME. I'm getting out of here... run!
I'll look from here! No closer, please.
We are calling it a day! And what a fun day it was.
Wish I had a few more days to hang around, though. This is a cute little town and it has a true gem in Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast. Nice, friendly innkeepers and beautiful place. Hope to return one day!
