Wedding Reception Centers Landscape Designers Challenge

Hi Everyone,

We have a blank canvas for our newly built reception center and would like to invite you to our "Wedding Reception Centers Landscape Designers Challenge". So, if you would like to submit a drawing for consideration, please send it to info@sweetgumbottom.com. We will review them and decide on a winner.

Some problem areas that need to be addressed is:

We have a lot of shade, so plants will have to love the shade to prosper!

Grass does not grow well in the shaded areas.

Lot of trees, so therefore a lot of roots.

Easy maintinance is a must.

We would also like an outdoor wedding area to be created between the reception center and the chapel (shaded as well)

Alabama Public Television Bed and Breakfast segment

We were honored to be chosen as one of 12 bed and breakfasts of Alabama to be featured on a special segment of Alabama Public Television. APT created a program called "At Home In Alabama / Bed and Breakfasts". 12 B&B's were chosen across the beautiful state of Alabama. It is a 2 hour program that showcases 4 Inns per show. These can been seen on some Sunday evenings at 8:00pm. Check out their website at http://www.aptv.org/ for the upcoming episodes. You can also order a DVD copy of the shows from their site. It was a real honor to be chosen!

Alabama Wedding Magazine

We are all the time looking at ideas to improve our facilities. I love magazines, as do most women, and our husbands do not like it! Ricky says everytime I get an idea, he gets an opportunity to succeed. I tell him, I'm just trying to help him. He doesn't believe me. Anyway... I have found a wonderful magazine "Alabama Weddings". Look for us in 2010. We should be in there. Our daughter's wedding will be featured. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know when. We can't wait!

This stay was a surprise for me. We have enjoyed every minute of it. I don't know when I have felt so relaxed and pampered! Getting up to smell a wonderful breakfast cookinf while we were waking up was an unheard of treat! Thank you for your friendliness and hospitality!

Andalusia, Alabama: Looking for romantic getaway?

Shannon Reeves and Craig Jacobs

Shannon Reeves became the Mrs. Craig Jacobs in a beautiful chapel ceremony. The reception was held in the Sweet Gum Bottom Reception center. It was beautifully decorated as well. Below is a couple of photos of the chapel decorations. Thanks Shannon and Craig.

Justin and Lindsey

We have had the honor of gaining a new Son-in-law. Our daughter, Lindsey, married Justin Crutchfield in May of this year. We are happy to introduce him as a part of our family.

We had a beautiful wedding ceremony at the church we attend (Good News Baptist Chapel in Rose Hill, Alabama) and a fantastic reception here at the Bed and Breakfast. We are so appreciative to everyone who joined us on this occasion! We are so happy that you were a part of this new beginning in their lives!

Matt and Brooke chose the lower garden area to have their wedding ceremony. It was a picture perfect March day for a wedding. I love the set up of white chairs against the green grass. It was so pretty! Thank you Brooke for choosing Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast for your wedding!

Robert and Crista Vogel

Robert and Crista were married in a beautiful ceremony in the garden. The neatest "thing" was the beta fish that were used on each table as a centerpiece. It was really unusual, but very pretty! The whole ceremony was gorgeous and so sweet! They had a host of friends from everywhere that came to help them celebrate their special wedding day!

Lynn and Jack came from Mississippi to be married at Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast. Just an intimate little ceremony for two. A very sweet celebration of two lives coming together. Congratulations!
