A real Alabama Wedding

We celebrated a Real Alabama Wedding here at Sweet Gum Bottom wedding chapel this past Saturday. Sherry Harp and Rodney Hawkins were united in marraige at the 5:00 hour. The chapel was beautifully decorated with white collumns and adorned with bouquets of fresh greenery and red roses. The attendants carried a simple bouquet of red roses and the bride used white roses as he choice.

Following the wedding, the guest were invited to join them in the Indoor Reception Center for refreshments and drinks. Each table held a unique arrangment of roses, greenery and candles. Everyone enjoyed visiting with the bride and groom.

After the honeymoon, they will reside in Enterprise, Alabama. Congratulation Sherry and Rodney, it was a beautiful day!

Blogging and Twitter and Facebook...oh my

Blogging and Twitter and Facebook...oh my. I've got to get with the beat, baggie. I attended a webinar aimed at these subjects, but I think I missed the bulls-eye. It is hard to teach an old dog a new trick, but I am trying to learn to jump through the hoops!

Seriously, All this is very new to me. I get the idea of the friends thing, but when you do it trying to improve your business, it is a "whole nother ballgame". This means that and if you want to achieve this, then do that. Place this here...make sure you use these words...man, I can't get it!

So...having said all this "junk". You will surely be able to "follow" us soon on all 3 stages. Blogging is currently at http://blog.sweetgumbottom.com/. I will keep you posted on the facebook and twitter thing. Maybe it won't be long.

Send me an email and let me know how you would like to keep up with the "happenings at Sweet Gum Bottom". Please! Which one do you prefer?

A Sweet Bridesmaid Luncheon for Laura Ashley Ingram

The special ladies in Laura Ashley's family gave her the perfect bridesmaid's luncheon at Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast. All of her bridesmaids, along with her Mother and Grandmother, future Mother-in-law and other invited guests enjoyed having time to share with Laura Ashley about her favorite things, how well they knew her and all sorts of "words and wishes". It was a very sweet and special time in her life and in the life of her family.
A delicious meal of grilled chicken on a bed of greens, fresh seasonal fruit, and homemade poppy seed bread was served to the guests. At each place setting, Laura Ashley chose an individual dessert cake with the bridesmaids initial. These little cakes were so cute! Placecards were also used as a personal touch. It was a beautifully set table!

We wish for Laura Ashley only the best for she and her future husband. May God bless you both!

Indian Pass Mini Vacation

Well, we have just returned from a mini vacation at Indian Pass and Cape San Blas. It is known as the "Forgotten Beach" and now I know why. There is no one there! We had the beach all to ourselves except a few fishermen now and then. The good thing about the area is there is absolutely nothing to do. No stores, no croud, no nothing! And that is just what we needed!

Our daughter and her husband went with us. Below is a picture of one of the fish she caught. It has totally changed my perception of the gulf waters. If you could see what we caught, it would make you think twice about going swimming. Catfish, water snake, sharks, oh my goodness sharks everywhere! We did try our luck grilling one shark and it was fantastic! Now i know something that they are good for...eating!!!!

If you're looking for a beach place away from everything, check them out! It fits the bill! Also visit the Indian Pass Raw Bar. Very good!

Covington Center Arena is not just horsing around!

With the new lease of the Covington Center Arena, Don Bullard is not just horsing around. Although his first contract is with the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA), he has made major improvements that recruit more than just horses. He is soon going to be ready for concerts, and many other forms of entertainment.

We, in Covington County, are excited about this addition to the arena and are looking forward to many events for this area!

The first contract is with the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA), being the first weekend in each month for a “cutting event” at the arena. The first show is slated for Sat., Sept. 5. There will be no show in October, due to the American Quarter Horse Association event already on the books.

Their web site is under constuction, so I will post a new link as soon as it goes live.
