A baby shower venue - It's a boy!

Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast was chosen for A baby shower venue - It's a boy! Brittany Morrow was honored by friends anf family with a baby shower for her upcoming baby boy. The reception center was beautifully decorated in colors of brown and blue. Hurricane lamps were mongrammed in the Morrow initials. Such a cute idea.

Kathy Morris and other friends and family hosted the event. It was a very exciting time shared with everyone.

A beautiful fall wedding in Alabama

We had a fantastic time this weekend catering a wedding for the daughter of Diane and Mike Blocker. They were married at Southside Baptist church in Andalusia, Alabama. It was a beautiful fall wedding!

Diane had everything planned to a tea. It was absolutely beautiful. The fellowship hall of the church was filled with decorations of crimson roses and greenery. Little sitting areas were tucked in every corner. It looked like a garden. The tables were covered with ivory linen and each boasted a beautiful centerpieceof roses and candles. The backdrop for the wedding cakes was lattice work draped with lighting and greenery. Candles were abundant giving a very romantic feel.

We were giving the priviledge of catering this event and we were so thankful. Her menu consisted of smoked brisket, a pasta bar with gorgonzola cheese and spinach purses in marinara sauce, ranch and bacon penne pasta, spinach, tomatoe and egg pasta in a tomatoe and basil vinagerette, brocolli salad and manderin rice salad. She also had a mashed potato martini bar where you are served potatoes in a martini glass with a variety of toppings available for you to choose from. Green beans, rolls and a fruit and vegetable arrangements with dips. Diane had made 3 ham balls served with crackers that were delicious! Teas, water and punch was served to the guests.

A sweet toast was started by her father and continued with friends and family. This is one of the sweetest families that I have enjoyed knowing since childhood when Diane and I attended church together.

Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of this wonderful occasion!

Enjoy the benefits of staying at a Bed and Breakfast

The benefits of staying at a Bed and breakfast are like none other! Nothing is more comforting than having that "home" feeling when you are away from home. That's what makes bed and breakfasts so special.

Staying at a bed and breakfast has some important advantages. Since it is often run by local people, you not only get a bed and breakfast, you get a personal tour guide too. Your "hosts" can tell you about the local attractions and suggest interesting places for you to eat. And for serious shoppers, your host could guide you to all the best shopping areas and show you where the best bargains are.

Making reservations at a bed and breakfast is as easy as 1-2-3. The information available is comprehensive and often at the click of your computer mouse.

If you are looking for a cozy atmosphere then a bed and breakfast is exactly what you need. Compared to a large hotel a bed and breakfast can provide a warm and cozy atmosphere. These facilities are often run by a family who contribute to the friendly atmosphere for people who are away from their own homes.

A bed and breakfast supplies exactly what the name suggests: a comfortable bed and delicious breakfast! The travelers who choose to stay at a bed and breakfast get treated more like "friends" then like "customers". The bed is usually very comfortable, and the breakfast is usually fabulous in contrast to the "continental breakfast" that comes free in a large hotel.

So does a bed a breakfast sound like something that might be right for you? Just think, you get a bed, a delicious home made breakfast, and a personal host! Sounds like a memorable experience. Visit us today at Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast!

Another great Alabama Bed and Breakfast

Rick and I had the priviledge of celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary on Nov.11th. We decided to take a day off and go somewhere. We hardly ever get to leave, but we thought we needed a well deserved break. So I searched Eufaula Alabama, we went there many years BOB&B (before our bed and breakfast)to a beautiful B&B. Kendell Manor, it has been closed for several years now. I was in hopes that another one had opened up in the area.

We were in luck! The Candlelight Inn opened a couple of years ago. They are not members of the Alabama Bed and Breakfast Association yet, so that is why I did not know about them. They hopefully will be joining soon!

Having said all of that...it is a gorgeous place. They have 3 rooms and a cottage. I highly recommend this B&B. We were a guest of the "suite". It has a very large bathroom and it's queen bed is on a hardwood riser. Beautiful! We sat on the balcony (private to our room)for a long time, just enjoying the breeze.

If you want to get away and we do not have a room open, please try this one. Be sure to ask George to play the guitar. Here is their site www.candlelightinneufaula.com
Check them out!

A Wedding Renewal Vow at Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast

We were a part of the sweetest Wedding Renewal Vow this weekend. Craig planned the whole thing to be a surprise for his wife. He began planning in January of this year. He did not want her to know anything about it. He worked very hard to get every detail correct. Planning an event like this is not easy with an hour and a half distance from home.

It went just as he had planned. They left the B&B after breakfast on Saturday to check out Andalusia. After lunch he took her to the movies for an afternoon showing. While in the movies, their friends and family gathered at Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast. They worked very hard decorating the chapel and reception center. Sweet Gum Bottom catered the reception.

When everything was completed they took their places in the chapel for the big surprise. When Craig and his wife returned from the movies, they pulled in to take a look at the chapel. It was being built when they were here last, so he said he would like to take a look. As she was walking up to the steps she leaned over to pet the kitty cat. Totally unaware of what was about to happen. When she open the door the wedding march began and all of their friends stood in support. After a few minutes she regained her composure and they walked down the isle.

When the ceremony was over he invited everyone to a reception dinner. Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast had prepared a wonderful meal for them to enjoy. Craig chose the prime rib for dinner. It was served with a green salad, steak, potato, rolls and wedding cake (of course) for dessert.

Everyone had a wonderful time talking and visiting. It was a very special occasion and one that none of us will forget!

Thanks Craig for choosing us for your very special celebration!
