Red Chair Travels to Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast

Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast was honored to participate in the adventures of the Red Chair Travels! We applied in 2013 to host the red chair and was approved in late summer. We were so very excited to be accepted! Let me share a little with you about this red chair...

An innkeeper on Cape Cod took a picture of this red chair perched out on a frozen pond in Woods Hole in the winter of 2011.  She posted it on Facebook and it lit up with "likes."  This simple image journeyed all over cyberspace, and landed in the in-box of a California-based photographer, who was inspired to visit the Woods Hole Inn. She took an incredible photo on Nobska Beach. And this is how it all started. The red chair became a symbol, a metaphor for connections made across invisible boundaries.

Since that time, the red chair has traveled all over New England, hosted by the very best innkeepers. In 2013 the chair headed ACROSS THE WHOLE USA to be delivered in spring 2014 to the California-based photographer who inspired all this with her photo.

Now it has made it all the way to South Alabama and Sweet Gum Bottom Bed and Breakfast. While here in Andalusia, we showed Red all that our little town and surrounding area has to offer our guests! Over the next few blogs we will share with you our adventures that the red chair went on and what all it got into while here!

Follow along as we go on our first adventure... to the haunted jail house..........
